Celebrating One Year of Hot Yoga in Denham Springs

Same Brand, Different Community: The Culture of Yoga Studio 90 Denham Springs

By Brittney Robert, Owner, Yoga Studio 90 Denham Springs

Yoga Studio 90 Denham Springs is celebrating its first year! We're a hot yoga studio in Livingston Parish built on the same proven foundation as the original YS90 in Baton Rouge, with a community that's all its own. In our first year, we've welcomed total beginners and seasoned athletes alike, and watched them become a true community.

Our Baton Rouge studio gave us our foundation. It's where the Yoga Studio 90 brand was born, where we learned what our members needed, and where our culture first took shape. But Denham Springs has its own rhythm. Simply put, the demographics here are different: different age ranges, different backgrounds, different reasons people are stepping onto the mat for the first time. Some come from a fitness background looking for something new; others have never set foot in a yoga studio in their life. That mix has shaped a community that feels distinctly its own, even while it's built on the same foundation as our flagship.

What hasn't changed is why we do this. Whether someone walks into our Baton Rouge, St. Francisville, or Denham Springs studio, the mission is identical: build a space where people feel welcomed, challenged, and genuinely cared for, regardless of where they're starting from. That value doesn't bend based on zip code.

What has been amazing to watch is how quickly Denham Springs has built its own sense of community, even as a newer, smaller location still finding its footing. We are meeting people from all walks of life: different careers, different stages of life, different starting points on their wellness journey. And we get to watch them come together under the same roof, united by the same practice.

From Instructor to Owner:
Hot Yoga to Denham Springs

Before this studio was even a thought, I was an instructor at our Baton Rouge studio for almost 7 years. I knew the practice, I knew how to teach it, and I understood the community this workout can build. But nothing quite prepared me for what it meant to bring that same concept to a town that had never heard of it.

Baton Rouge already had a built-in understanding of hot yoga. People knew what to expect when they walked in the door. Here, I wasn't just opening a studio; I was introducing an entire concept from scratch. I found myself explaining the basics over and over: what hot yoga actually is, why the heat matters, and what to expect walking in for the first time. It wasn't just about teaching classes anymore. It was about educating an entire community on something they'd never experienced.

That shift, from instructor to owner, from a place where the concept was already understood to a place where I had to build that understanding myself, has been humbling in ways I didn't expect. I went from focusing solely on my own classes and my own growth as a teacher to thinking about marketing, education, staffing, finances, and how to make an unfamiliar practice feel approachable and welcoming to total beginners.

Looking back now, a year in, I'm proud of that leap. Starting as an instructor taught me how to teach. Becoming an owner in a place where this concept was brand new taught me how to build from the ground up, with a lot of trust, patience, and belief in something I knew could make a real difference in people's lives.

Moments That Mattered in Our First Year

The community we have built in our first year has been outstanding to see and incredible to witness every day. We are changing lives, helping people feel better, laugh again, have FUN, and meet new people. They have found a community: an accepting group, a team of cheerleaders. And I'm not just talking about the instructors. It's the members. It's the people.

This year was full of moments that reminded us exactly why we do this work:

  • Themed classes that brought playful energy and packed rooms, reminding our instructors (and us) what's possible when passion meets community.

  • Community events and partnerships across Denham Springs and the greater Baton Rouge area. We've had the honor of partnering with amazing local businesses and groups that let us celebrate our members outside the studio walls, including Kendra Scott, our events at Le Chien, Beyond Wellness and Aesthetics, Yoga on the Lawn at Greystone Golf Community, a Community Class at Livingston Parish Animal Shelter, Salt and Stone Wellness and Aesthetics, Block Nutrition, BB Fit, Built Athleisure, MAKE Wellness, Sync Life of BR, Live Oak Athletics and the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce.

  • Everyday wins: a member hitting a pose for the first time, a beginner coming back for their second, third, and fifteenth class, a "regular" becoming a friend.

None of these moments happen without the people who showed up again and again and made this studio what it is.
